Well they did it. The coalition of the incompetent, the Ephrata Borough Manager, Bob Thompson, and the Borough Council, by a 6-2 vote, are raising your property taxes. Why? Because they couldn’t make the tough choices to balance the Borough budget. Once more, property owners in Ephrata bear the burden of their poor leadership and management.
Additionally, Thompson blamed the method by which taxes are collected by the County to explain the problem. When all else fails, blames somebody else: typical of a politician or a government bureaucrat.

The disturbed and economically challenged Ephrata borough council is seeking to raise taxes on property owners. These political animals seem unable to control their power mad lust for money.
We’ve elected them to keep our town’s financial house in order, but they are unable to do so. The council appears unwilling to balance the budget, cut spending, or reduce the salaries of the overpaid borough workers. Once more, as is the case on both the federal, state, and county level, the average American worker and taxpayer is screwed.

Losers! Paul Rauch (l) and Lynne Boyer (r)
Paul Rauch and Lynne Boyer defeated at the polls in primary!
Never underestimate the intelligence of the voter. Voters in the Ephrata area rejected the bid of Lynne Boyer and Paul Rauch to be the Republican candidate for District Justice in area of Ephrata, Akron, and Clay.
Of the 2,500 votes that were cast, Boyer received only 104 (4%) and Rauch only 152 (6%). By contrast, winner Tony Russel received 823 votes or 33 percent. His closest competitors former pastor Duane Britton received 666 (how ironic is that!) or 27 percent and Timothy Ebersole 559 or 22 percent. Together, against both Rauch and Boyer, that’s an 8 to 1 defeat.
Hopefully, these two men will get the hint and not run for office again.
