Well they did it. The coalition of the incompetent, the Ephrata Borough Manager, Bob Thompson, and the Borough Council, by a 6-2 vote, are raising your property taxes. Why? Because they couldn’t make the tough choices to balance the Borough budget. Once more, property owners in Ephrata bear the burden of their poor leadership and management.

Additionally, Thompson blamed the method by which taxes are collected by the County to explain the problem. When all else fails, blames somebody else: typical of a politician or a government bureaucrat.

Ephrata Flea Market - downtown pig styDowntown Ephrata has become a thriving center for junk: there are at least five stores that sell used articles from clothing to jewelry,  license plates to snow blowers. Essentially, they’re depositories for people’s trash and garbage. Most look and smell awful, from outside  to the inside. Perhaps the worst offender is the Ephrata Flea Market.

Forty years ago, Ephrata had a thriving downtown, with varied and many enterprises especially on the retail side. Now, its a haven for an unsightly pig sty like the Ephrata Flea Market.

Ephrata’s (PA) The Shopping News is a free tabloid of local information, photos and advertisements. Paid employees drive  around dumping this worthless rag on the sidewalks, driveways, lawns, and doorsteps in northern Lancaster County.
