Finally! My first trip to and first growler of craft beer from St. Boniface, a nano-brewery in Ephrata

St. Boniface Craft Breweing CompanyFinally, after more than a year since it opened, I traveled to St. Boniface Craft Brewing, only five blocks from my home.

That first growler was filled with the mighty tasty Extra Special Bitter (ESB), a classic English pub, session, style brew. Looking forward to trying the 3lb IPA next.

Boy Howdy! These guys know what they’re doing, and they’re also Reformation Christians. Beer and Reformed theology, it doesn’t get any better than that. Check them out on Thursdays, 7-9pm, and Saturdays, 9am-4pm.

Inept Ephrata Borough council and manager can’t balance budget, so they’ll raise your taxes

Well they did it. The coalition of the incompetent, the Ephrata Borough Manager, Bob Thompson, and the Borough Council, by a 6-2 vote, are raising your property taxes. Why? Because they couldn’t make the tough choices to balance the Borough budget. Once more, property owners in Ephrata bear the burden of their poor leadership and management.

Additionally, Thompson blamed the method by which taxes are collected by the County to explain the problem. When all else fails, blames somebody else: typical of a politician or a government bureaucrat.

Downtown Ephrata marked by numerous unsightly junk shops

Downtown Ephrata has become a thriving center for junk: there are at least five stores that sell used articles from clothing to jewelry,  license plates to snow blowers. Ephrata’s (PA) The Shopping News is a free tabloid of local information, photos and advertisements. Paid employees drive  around dumping this worthless rag on the sidewalks, driveways, lawns, and doorsteps in northern Lancaster County.
